American who's lived in Norway for close to 52 years, but still I run into peculiar expressions that I understand "in GENERAL" but can't explain to family SPECIFICALLY...Like "trøst og bære"!
It means , comfort and carrey, Something that requirer comfort and help. Used like Oh my god! when you experience something that is so bad that it is difficult to believe.

ex. He spent all his money on online games andhe only ate burgers. Trøste og bære!
Det er truleg eit underforstått "Gud" først:
Gud, trøst og bær meg
evt.
Gud, trøst og (for)bedre meg
